Doctors reported that on February 28th, Hoang Thi Thuy Duong (22 years old, residing in Quynh My commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province) was admitted with severe abdominal pain and threatened premature labor. Upon examination, doctors concluded that Ms. Duong had severe preeclampsia, which could be fatal. However, since the fetus was only 29 weeks old, doctors administered lung maturation medication to support the developing fetus's lungs.

The 30-week-old fetus is being cared for in an incubator.

After completing the full course of medication, the pregnant woman's condition did not improve.On March 6th, pregnant woman Duong suddenly experienced a sharp increase in blood pressure. After an urgent consultation, the doctors decided to perform a cesarean section to deliver the baby.

The surgery was successful; the baby was a girl, weighing 1.2 kg. When she was first delivered, she was very weak and didn't cry... After manual ventilation and fluid aspiration, the baby girl soon cried, her skin turned pink, and the doctors transferred her to the intensive care unit for oxygen and placed a central venous catheter for feeding. After two days, she no longer needed oxygen.

“The baby is being fed through a feeding tube that pumps breast milk directly into the stomach. Currently, the baby is still weak, has no sucking reflex, and is in an incubator for close monitoring,” said Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Thuy, from the neonatal resuscitation team of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.She directly cared for the baby, she said.

According to Doctor Dinh Van Sinh, both the mother and her baby are currently in good health and will be discharged from the hospital within the next week.
