Former SLNA captain officially retires, moves to the South to become a coach

At the end of the 2017 season, although he still had no intention of retiring because he still had passion, at the last minute, veteran center back Nguyen Minh Duc of SLNA decided to say goodbye to his playing career at the age of 34.

Before retiring from his football career, Nguyen Minh Duc and his teammate Nguyen Van Vinh had obtained a B-certificate coaching certificate from the Asian Football Confederation. Therefore, this is the right time for the former SLNA captain to start coaching.

After retiring from his playing career, Nguyen Minh Duc was invited to be an assistant to the new head coach Phan Van Tai Em at Saigon FC. At Saigon FC, Nguyen Minh Duc will meet his close senior, fellow countryman, coach Nguyen Thanh Cong.

Thus, up to now, there have been Coaches Nguyen Minh Duc, Nguyen Huy Hoang, and Nguyen Thanh Cong, who are young coaches from Nghe An appearing in V.League 2018 as assistants. In which, Coaches Minh Duc and Thanh Cong are taking on this responsibility for the first time.

During his career, Nguyen Minh Duc spent 5 years with SLNA in the 2002-2007 season. After that, this central defender continued to play for Hai Phong Club in the 2008-2011 period.

The 2008 AFF Cup champion and former captain of the Vietnam national team also played for Sai Gon Xuan Thanh FC for 2 years before returning to Hai Phong. In 2013, the player from Hung Nguyen returned to his old home and played for the Nghe An team for 4 seasons before retiring after the 2017 season ended.

Veteran Nguyen Minh Duc has no intention of retiring.
