Former Prime Minister Berlusconi 'likes' Mrs. Trump

Four-term Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi says the only thing he likes about US President Donald Trump is the leader's wife, Melania.

Mr Berlusconi, 80, reappeared on the political scene over the weekend when he campaigned for the Forza Italia party ahead of the election on June 25.

Appearing in a mid-day chat on private media outlet La7 on June 23, Mr. Berlusconi was asked how he felt about being compared to the current US President - a real estate billionaire and controversial political leader.

"I don't feel this way or that way. However, when it comes to Trump, like many other men and women, I can say, I like Melania. Because she is beautiful, because of her style and grace."

Berlusconi said he had never met the US First Lady, but he had seen Melania Trump on television and "heard a lot of good comments about Melania. Even the Democrats in the US did not criticize her".

The former Italian Prime Minister is known for making inappropriate political comments, but that seems to make him even more popular.

Last month, Mr Berlusconi praised newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron as a “nice guy with a beautiful mother”. In 2008, he called US President Obama “sunburnt”.
