Former SLNA striker leaves Hai Phong, seeks new club.
(Baonghean.vn) - After a period playing for Hai Phong Club, striker Nguyen Viet Nguyen is now looking for opportunities at lower-division teams.
Striker Viet Nguyen was born in 1995 in Vinh City and joined the SLNA youth academy in 2007 after the Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth Football Tournament. Along with players like Van Khanh,Tuan TaiViet Nguyen became a key player for the SLNA U19 team at the 2014 National U19 Championship Finals.
That year, Viet Nguyen was the main goalscorer for U19 SLNA, making a significant contribution to helping the team reach the final. His outstanding performance led to his call-up to the Vietnam U19 national team, along with his teammates Van Duc and Tuan Tai.

Viet Nguyen is a special player for SLNA because he was an excellent student for many years and managed to balance his studies in Business Administration at Vinh University with football. However, after being promoted to the first team in the V.League 2016, Viet Nguyen decided to leave university and continue pursuing his football career.
Standing at 1.83m tall, an ideal and rare physique for a domestic striker, the former Vietnam U19 national team player was nevertheless constantly plagued by injuries. After three years of only getting used to the bench at SLNA,Viet Nguyen joined Hai Phong Club from the V.League 2019 season.However, his appearances for the port city team can be counted on the fingers of one hand, and he scored only one goal.
At the end of the 2020 season, Viet Nguyen was not in the plans of Hai Phong Club. Currently, clubs in the First Division and V.League have finalized their squads, and he is seeking opportunities at Vinh Phuc Club in the Second Division in the hope of maintaining his form.
