Former President of Chile visits and works at WHA and VSIP industrial parks in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - During the working program in Nghe An, on the afternoon of March 29, the working delegation led by Ms. Michelle Bachelet - former President of Chile visited and worked at WHA and VSIP Nghe An industrial parks.
Accompanying him were Mr. Sergio Narea - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Chile to Vietnam; Mr. Mauro Elias, Tamayo - District Chief of Cerro Naviat and other members of the delegation.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs and related departments and offices.

At VSIP Industrial Park, the board of directors provided an overview of the investment attraction situation. The VSIP Nghe An Industrial, Urban and Service Park project is being implemented in Hung Nguyen district, in the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone, on an area of 750 hectares with a total investment of 186.98 million USD, to invest in phases 1 and 2 of the industrial park and phases 1, 2, 3 of the urban and service area.

Currently, the project has 38 investors, with 39 projects covering a total area of 229.49 hectares; the occupancy rate, i.e. the number of investors in the industrial park, currently accounts for 87%. Of which, there are 19 FDI investors from Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Singapore, Korea, and Sweden. There are 34 projects that have been granted Investment Certificates, with a total investment capital of 743.6 million USD; of which, 681 million USD is FDI capital.
The total number of employees is expected to be 40,000 - 45,000 people, currently employing 14,000 local workers. In 2022, VSIP's export value will reach VND9,128 billion.
At the regular meeting in March 2023, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee approved the investor's proposal to adjust the total investment capital from 186.98 million USD to 279.91 million USD.

At WHA Industrial Zone 1 - Nghe An, the delegation listened to the WHA Board of Directors give a brief introduction about the industrial park. The highlight of WHA is a comprehensive, modern, synchronous industrial park, built and managed to ensure good environmental sustainability requirements. The focus is on developing industrial types: electronics, agricultural, forestry and fishery processing, wine, beer, soft drinks, construction materials production, mineral processing, machine assembly, textiles, plastics, consumer goods, office equipment... limiting the placement of industries that can cause environmental pollution.

WHA is considered the largest FDI project in Nghe An province. Currently, the occupancy rate in phase 1 has reached 78%.
In 2022, Nghe An entered the Top 10 localities attracting the largest FDI in the country for the first time. This achievement had a great contribution from the two industrial parks WHA Industrial Zone 1 Nghe An and VSIP.
At the meeting, the leaders of the industrial parks all assessed that Nghe An is a land with a lot of development potential from its geographical location, traffic hubs, logistics services... The locality has enough capacity to meet the strategic development stages of the industrial parks. Notably, WHA and VSIP have received great support and companionship from the government and people of Nghe An.

The Chilean delegation expressed interest in the preferential policies of the Vietnamese Government for industrial investment projects; the subjects and utilities for the development orientation of urban and service projects; and clean energy in a sustainable direction used in industrial parks.
Ms. Michelle Bachelet - former President of Chile highly appreciated the investment environment of Nghe An province. She said she would share information about industrial parks in Nghe An for Chilean investors to refer to and learn about future investment.
