The former US President's upcoming "return" is said to be his first political activity since leaving office in January 2017.
According to Politico, Mr. Obama is expected to attend a meeting of Democrats at a private home in Washington DC under the auspices of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC).
The event, hosted by the NDRC, will also be attended by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and former US Attorney General Eric Holder, who is currently serving as Chairman of the NDRC. The meeting is designed to boost the spirits of the Democrats’ efforts to consolidate and reallocate their forces after their defeat to the Republicans in last year’s election.
Mr. Obama has frequently talked about redistricting to win congressional seats at the state level, so that Democrats can win more political battles and thereby regain control of Congress and the legal system across the country.
In addition to making statements defending the Obamacare Health Care Act, since leaving office, Mr. Obama has made a few calls to the commissioners of the National Democratic Redistricting Commission (NDRC) and made helpful recommendations to the NDRC.
“The National Democratic Redistricting Commission is proud to have the support of former President Obama as we work to create more equitable representation of democracy across the country,” NDRC Chairman Eric Holder was quoted by Politico./.
