Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy detained
According to Monde newspaper, France has arrested former President Nicolas Sarkozy.

"According to our information, the former President is being held in Nanterre (a suburb of Paris), where he was summoned as part of proceedings regarding possible Libyan financing of his 2007 presidential campaign."
The detention period is 48 hours, after which charges must be brought against Sarkozy.
In the spring of 2012, the French newspaper Mediapart published documents about the transfer of 50 million euros by the Libyan regime to finance Mr. Sarkozy's presidential campaign. The court proceedings on this case continue in France to this day.
