On February 13 (December 28), Go Vap District Police, Ho Chi Minh City said that through camera extraction, they were searching for the murderer.Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong (23 years old, living in District 8), owner of HK pharmacy on Bui Van La street, Ward 12, Go Vap district, afternoon of February 10.
Go Vap District Police have identified the suspect in the murder as Nguyen Mai Cuong (22 years old, from Phu Yen, temporarily residing in Ward 12, Go Vap District).

During the investigation, Go Vap District Police discovered that the suspect was hiding in Phu Yen, so they coordinated with local police to arrest Cuong. Currently, Go Vap District Police are completing procedures to transfer Cuong from Phu Yen to Ho Chi Minh City for investigation and handling.
Initially, it was known that Cuong was a former employee of Ms. Phuong's husband, the owner of the pharmacy. Although he had quit his job, Cuong and Ms. Phuong's fiancé still had a friendly, close relationship. Due to his severe drug addiction, Cuong often went to Ms. Phuong's pharmacy to ask for money to buy drugs.
On the afternoon of February 10, Cuong continued to go to Ms. Phuong's pharmacy to ask for money, but Ms. Phuong refused. Angry, Cuong used a weapon to kill Ms. Phuong. After committing the crime, Cuong calmly closed the pharmacy, then left and took a bus to Phu Yen to hide.
From the testimony of witnesses, from the connections around the victim and from the camera images of a store near the pharmacy, Go Vap District Police quickly identified the suspect and his background.
