According to the Chief of the Office of the National Election Council, as of 10 PM on May 23, 2021, reports from 44 out of 63 provinces and cities indicated that approximately 67,630,011 out of 68,709,092 eligible voters (98.43%) had cast their ballots.

Overall, voter turnout was very high, exceeding 90%. Hau Giang province had the highest voter turnout at 99.99%. Other provinces with high turnout included: Tra Vinh 99.98%; Lao Cai 99.98%; Vinh Long 99.97%; Ben Tre 99.97%; Ha Giang 99.96%; Gia Lai 99.95%; Quang Ninh 99.95%; Quang Nam 99.96%; Binh Phuoc 99.96%; Lam Dong 99.94%; Dien Bien 99.93%; Bac Lieu 99.91%; Da Nang City 99.90%; and Thua Thien Hue 99.90%.

Most polling stations declared the voting period closed on time, with some ending at 9 PM. Currently, polling stations are urgently counting votes to report the election results to the Election Committee.

Voters nationwide enthusiastically flocked to polling stations to exercise their civic rights, dressed in formal attire, with some maintaining traditional clothing, creating a vibrant atmosphere for this national celebration. Many elderly people, village elders, community leaders, religious dignitaries, and a large number of voters cast their ballots early, demonstrating their sense of responsibility towards the country. Voters paid attention to and researched the biographies of the candidates; focusing on their qualifications and work experience; and simultaneously hoping that their choices would contribute to electing individuals with sufficient virtue and talent to serve in state power organs at all levels.

Thanks to thorough preparation by Party committees and local authorities, and effective propaganda about the purpose and significance of the election, as well as the rights and obligations of citizens, voters believe that the election demonstrates democracy and innovation, truly empowering the people. Voters have become aware of and upheld their responsibility and duty in carefully considering and selecting worthy representatives to represent their will and aspirations in the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels; and they have confidence in the success of the election. This was evident in most localities with high voter turnout rates.

The public also acknowledged that domestic and international news agencies focused intensely, dedicating significant time and space to news coverage on election day. As of 5 PM on May 23rd, the total number of news articles about the election published in the press was 8,611 (accounting for 31% of the total number of articles for the day).

Senior leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front cast their votes; they also directly visited and monitored the election situation in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Hai Phong, and Nghe An province… The profound speech by the General Secretary was listened to and appreciated by voters and people nationwide, creating confidence and enthusiasm on this national celebration day.

Today, the Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Election Council inspected and assessed the election process in Hai Phong City, Hanoi, and the provinces of Hai Duong, Bac Giang, and Bac Ninh, which are hotspots of the Covid-19 pandemic. On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Election Council encouraged, shared, and directed the election process and Covid-19 prevention and control efforts, and donated 15.5 billion VND, 40 ventilators, and 1 million face masks to the three localities (Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, and Hai Duong).

Election committees at all levels are strengthening their inspection and supervision of local areas to ensure that elections are conducted safely and in accordance with the law.

Up until the end of the election, security and social order in the localities were ensured, and no unusual incidents occurred.

In areas where issues arose regarding voter errors, the Standing Committee of the National Election Council provided guidance, and local authorities organized re-elections to ensure the process was carried out according to regulations.
