On the morning of August 28, the People's Committee of District 1 put into operation a "street vendor street" on Nguyen Van Chiem Street to serve the street food needs of tourists and residents.

The “street vendor street” has 20 businesses open from 6am to 9am and 11pm to 1pm every day. The businesses here are long-standing businesses on the sidewalks of the district’s streets, and have been encouraged by the local government not to encroach on the sidewalks.

The birth of “Street Vendor Street” contributes to ensuring urban beauty, creating a place for poor and near-poor traders to make a living. The traders here are not charged any fees.

Vendors must wear name tags, uniforms, and undergo regular health checks. Food ingredients must have a clear origin and ensure food safety and hygiene.

“Street vendor streets” is a solution that districts have researched and considered to solve the problem of trading places for poor households with local residence registration in the work of rectifying and restoring order to sidewalks, roadsides, and curbs.
