The Ministry of Home Affairs has concluded that it leaked Trinh Xuan Thanh's appointment file.
Regarding the Ministry of Home Affairs leaking Trinh Xuan Thanh's appointment file, Deputy Minister Tran Anh Tuan was proposed for disciplinary action for allegedly leaking secrets, Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan said the Central Inspection Committee has reached a conclusion.
Speaking to VietNamNet on November 29, Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan said that the Ministry had received the conclusion of the Central Inspection Committee. The announcement of specific contents is under the authority of the Central Inspection Committee.
Deputy Head of the Central Inspection Committee Le Thi Thuy also said that after the recent meeting, the Central Inspection Committee had announced its conclusion on this matter.
"On the afternoon of November 28, the Central Inspection Committee announced the results of the Inspection Committee's meeting to the Ministry of Home Affairs," Ms. Thuy said, adding that the specific content of the conclusion announcement must be provided by the spokesperson.
According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Law newspaper, on the afternoon of November 28, the Central Inspection Committee announced the results of the inspection and verification of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs' review and recommendation to discipline Deputy Minister Tran Anh Tuan.
The reason Deputy Minister Tran Anh Tuan was proposed for disciplinary action was because he provided the press with Official Letter 766 dated October 17, 2013 from the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee sent to the Central Organizing Committee and the Ministry of Industry and Trade requesting Trinh Xuan Thanh to become an official of this province.
After carefully examining and verifying the incident, the Central Inspection Committee concluded that Deputy Minister Tran Anh Tuan did not violate Party and State regulations on protecting secrets. The documents that Mr. Tuan provided to the press were not classified as confidential.
The Party Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs reviewed and voted to propose disciplinary measures according to regulations, which must be kept confidential, but then leaked the work and results to the outside, affecting the reputation of the cadres, especially when there was no final conclusion that lessons needed to be learned.
Previously, at the regular Government press conference in August, the press raised questions about the results of the inspection and handling of the Ministry's loss of documents related to the appointment of Trinh Xuan Thanh and the fact that Deputy Minister Tran Anh Tuan was accused of leaking confidential documents in this case.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Duy Thang said that the Trinh Xuan Thanh case has been going on for more than a year. The Secretariat and the Central Inspection Committee have reached conclusions. The conclusion is being processed regarding the management of Trinh Xuan Thanh's file and is awaiting the conclusions of competent authorities.
