84 defendants have been prosecuted in connection with violations at vehicle inspection centers.
On the evening of January 11, Ho Chi Minh City Police held a press conference to inform about the initial results of investigations into violations by a series of Motor Vehicle Inspection Centers (VICs) in Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Police, under the direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the City Police, recently, the forces of the City Police have focused on fighting and handling violations of the law related to the activities of the TTĐK.
The results of the investigation identified many violations with signs of constituting crimes, so they were focused on investigation and handling.

Up to now, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency, consisting of 3 units: Office of the City Police Investigation Agency; Department of Investigation Police on Social Order; Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economy and Position; with the participation of a number of District Police Investigation Agencies including: District 12; Binh Tan; Nha Be; Cu Chi; Hoc Mon and Thu Duc City, has conducted searches on 13 TTĐKs.
Of these 13 centers, 5 are located in Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Soc Trang provinces; 8 are located in Ho Chi Minh City.
The police have seized many related objects, documents and electronic data.

As a result of the investigation so far, Ho Chi Minh City Police have initiated a case, prosecuted and ordered searches of the workplaces and residences of 84 defendants to investigate the crimes of: Bribery, Receiving bribes, Bribery brokerage and Forgery in work.
Among them, 80 defendants are Directors, Deputy Directors, employees of the Registration Centers and brokers; 3 defendants are officers of the Department of Motor Vehicle Inspection under the Vietnam Register who were prosecuted for the crime of "Receiving bribes": Tran Anh Quan - Acting Head of the Department of Motor Vehicle Inspection; Dang Tran Khanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Motor Vehicle Inspection; Pham Duc Ngoc - Specialist of the Department of Motor Vehicle Inspection.

In particular, with the investigation results and collected documents, determining sufficient grounds, on January 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department issued a decision to prosecute and issue an arrest warrant for Mr. Dang Viet Ha, Director of the Vietnam Register, for the crime of "Receiving bribes". The above decisions and orders have been approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy for implementation.
