The reason why the couple committed suicide by detonating explosives has been clarified.

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 17, Colonel Nguyen Duc Hung, Chief of Police of Con Cuong District (Nghe An), announced that the case of Luong Van Trung (born in 1975) and Nguyen Thi Hoi (born in 1983), a married couple residing in Block 3, Con Cuong town, who committed suicide using explosives on the morning of June 15, has been largely solved.

Relatives and local authorities organized the funeral for the victimized couple at their home.

According to the investigating agency, the crime scene examination and investigation have yielded results. Accordingly, at nearly 10:00 AM on June 15th, a large explosion occurred at a construction site in Block 5, Con Cuong district town. Hundreds of local residents rushed to the scene, shocked to witness the tragic deaths of Luong Van Trung and Nguyen Thi Hoi, a married couple.

The Con Cuong District Police, in coordination with the Provincial Forensic Service and other relevant units, secured the scene and conducted an investigation. At the scene of the explosion, the police recovered a cylindrical object suspected to be explosive, measuring approximately 10x4 cm; three metal tubes suspected to be detonators; one roll of slow-burning fuse; and one gas lighter. The explosion scattered fragments of the two victims' bodies up to 20 meters away, indicating the immense destructive power of the explosive.

According to Colonel Hung, the investigation results show that the victimized couple had planned to commit suicide. "The autopsy revealed that the couple were lying pressed together, with the male victim on top, and approximately 0.5 kg of explosives were placed between them before the detonation," Colonel Hung said.

According to Colonel Hung, this was a suicide case with no third party involved. Both victims died. Therefore, the police did not initiate a criminal case.

The location was a friend's house, about 200 meters from the scene, where Luong Van Trung parked his motorbike on the morning of June 15th.

Regarding the cause of the victim's suicide, according to the police, it stemmed from the fact that Nguyen Thi Hoi and her husband had borrowed money at exorbitant interest rates in recent years. Currently, the amount they owe is approximately 5 billion VND and they are being pursued by creditors.

On the morning of June 15th, before committing suicide, Trung and his wife, Hợi, rode their motorbike to the scene. The wife stayed behind while Trung rode the motorbike to a friend's house about 200 meters away, parked it, and then returned to commit suicide. Upon checking the trunk of Trung's motorbike, police found a half-written plea for help from Ms. Nguyễn Thị Hợi, which read: "A plea for help. My name is Nguyễn Thị Hợi."

On June 16th, relatives and local authorities held a funeral for the deceased couple.
