Da Nang prepares to welcome aircraft carrier and 6,000 US sailors
The program to welcome the US aircraft carrier to visit Da Nang city has been planned for the past six months.
During the four days from March 5 to 9, the US Navy fleet including the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, the cruiser USS Lake Champlanin and the destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer will visit Vietnam.
Colonel Ton Quoc Khanh, Commander of the Da Nang Border Guard, said that recently, thethe unit assigned to the task related to this eventhad many meetings to finalize security plans and reception plans.
Accordingly, the procedures for entry and exit; inspection, supervision, and security assurance for the US Navy fleet will be carried out quickly, neatly, and in accordance with Vietnamese law and international conventions to which Vietnam is a member.

Da Nang Border Guard also requested unit commanders to thoroughly inform all officers and soldiers, proactively develop specific plans, assign tasks to each department to carry out assigned tasks; anticipate some related situations to proactively perform tasks well.
"In the process of performing tasks, it is necessary to ensure the maintenance of independence, sovereignty, political security, social order and safety, meeting the requirements of border diplomacy, international integration and development of the city," Colonel Khanh emphasized.
Ms. Le Thi Thu Hanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang said that about a year ago, there was information about the US Navy aircraft carrier coming to Da Nang; after that, many phone calls and emails were continuously made by all parties to prepare for the visit.
"For the past six months,Central and local authorities haveclose coordination,"Build a detailed plan to welcome the US Navy delegation," said Ms. Hanh.

During their 5-day stay in Da Nang, the 6,000 sailors will have many exchange activities with the Vietnamese navy, orphanages, Agent Orange victim protection centers, etc.
The aircraft carrier will also welcome military delegations, journalists and Da Nang officials to visit. Along with that, the US Navy Band will perform music at Dragon Bridge on the evening of March 5 and East Sea Park on the evening of March 7 to interact with local people and tourists.

In addition to the above activities, according to Ms. Le Thi Thu Hanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang, there will be a number of exchanges between fire prevention, fighting, electricity and water supply units on the ship so that the two sides can share how to handle situations and operate a "floating city".
The US Navy fleet, including the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (332.8 m long, 76.8 m wide, speed 30 nautical miles), the cruiser USS Lake Champaign (173 m long, 16.8 m wide, speed 32.5 nautical miles/hour) and the destroyer USS Wayne Emeyer (155.3 m long, 20 m wide) will officially visit Da Nang from March 5 to 9.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the visit of the US aircraft carrier to Da Nang was carried out in accordance with the agreement of the two countries' senior leaders, contributing to promoting the development of bilateral relations in line with the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, security, cooperation and development in the region.
