At 3 PM on December 30th, several bodies were discovered in the area where debris, identified by the Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency as emergency slides and aircraft doors from flight QZ8501, was found. The bodies were brought aboard an Indonesian naval vessel.

AP reports that numerous bodies have been discovered and transferred to an Indonesian naval vessel.

All the debris has been collected and transported to the town of Pangkalanbun. The Indonesian rescue chief told Kompas TV that "95% of the debris found is from flight QZ8501."

Search teams are working around the clock, regardless of the conditions on the ground, the head of Basarnas said.

Basarnas said the area where the debris was found is between 20 and 25 meters deep and that divers will be deployed.

"According to information from the scene, it was debris from the aircraft's emergency exit," said the head of Barsanas.

Indonesian search and rescue officials are preparing for the worst-case scenario and transporting body bags to Pangkal Bun, Kalimantan province, near the area where debris believed to be from the plane was found.

According to the BBC, relatives of passengers on QZ8501, currently in Surabaya, are hoping the debris is not from the missing aircraft.
