The International Special Forces Training Center is located in the southern Russian city of Gudermes, in the Republic of Chechnya. The center covers an area of 4 square kilometers and is equipped with live-fire training facilities, including firing at houses that simulate densely populated areas and urban areas. It is expected to open this fall.

Mr. Daniil Martynov, Director of the Center, said that with extremely modern training equipment, the center attracts the attention of many elite anti-terrorist forces around the world.

“We will invite American experts to participate in the training courses as individuals. They are experienced in training shooting skills. We gather all the best experiences in the world and integrate them into the training program of the center,” said Mr. Martynov.

200 experts from Chechnya, the US and many other countries will train counter-terrorism units from China, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan and Belarus, helping them improve their shooting and hostage rescue skills with urban warfare and counter-insurgency exercises.

“We will cooperate with China after the center is inaugurated. Besides China sending people here for training, we will also send our experts to China to share our experience,” said Mr. Martynov.

The choice of Chechnya as the location of the training center is due to the complex situation in the region. Chechnya is where Russia has carried out two major counter-terrorism operations in the past decade and still faces a struggle with Islamist extremists.

Chechnya is Russia's frontline in the current war on terrorism, said Ramzan Kadyrov, head of the Chechen Republic.
