A wealthy timber trader in Dien Chau evaded 800 million VND in taxes.

(Baonghean.vn) - Authorities have determined that from 2011 to 2015, Tam Oanh Company, located in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district, evaded taxes totaling 800 million VND.

The company's tactic was to issue invoices for the full quantity of timber and forest products to individuals and businesses, but record lower prices and payment amounts than the actual figures to evade the 10% VAT and 20-25% corporate income tax. From 2011 to the present, the company has evaded over 800 million VND in taxes. Currently, the investigation phase of the case has concluded.

Earlier, on the morning of July 30, the Criminal Investigation Department for Economic and Official Crimes (PC46) of the Nghe An Provincial Police conducted an urgent search of the private residence of Cao Duc Tam (born in 1968) and Hoang Thi Oanh (born in 1971), the Director and Deputy Director of Tam Oanh Forestry Products Import-Export Trading Company Limited.

On August 7th, the investigating agency issued a decision to prosecute and detain Hoang Thi Oanh for three months on charges of tax evasion.

The People's Procuratorate of Nghe An province stated that the tax evasion case of Tam Oanh Company was one of the typical cases of 2015. Over the past year, the People's Procuratorate of Nghe An province has prosecuted 835 cases involving 1,304 defendants for crimes against property and economic management order, with the main offenses including robbery, fraud, abuse of trust, counterfeiting, and tax evasion.
