It is expected that 4,000 cows will be transported on 60 flights and cost the Qatari businessman more than 180 billion VND.

Businessman Moutaz al-Khayat said it would take 60 Qatar Airways flights to transport 4,000 cows, each weighing 590kg. However, the businessman insisted: “Now is the time to contribute to Qatar.”

The tiny Gulf state of Qatar is being cut off from economic and diplomatic ties by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Bahrain, accusing it of “funding terrorism.” The Doha government denies all accusations.

The only land border with Saudi Arabia has also been blocked, meaning Qatar's food supply has been affected. Much of the food that used to come from Saudi Arabia has now been blocked.

To address the food crisis, food has been flown in from Türkiye to Qatar. Morocco and Iran have pledged to continue sending food to Doha.

Moutaz’s company, Power International Holding, owns a camp 50km from the capital Doha. He plans to develop agriculture in the arid region as part of the Qatari government’s “Vision 2030” plan.

Moutaz has planned to import a large number of Holstein dairy cows to graze on his farm. The fresh milk production process is expected to be implemented by the end of this month and meet a third of Qatar's demand. Milk and yogurt products are especially needed as Qatar enters the Eid al-Adha holiday.

Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice) is a three-day holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world. The purpose of the holiday is to honor Abraham's willingness to obey God and sacrifice his son Ishmael before God intervened to provide him with a lamb as a substitute.

The process of transporting 4,000 breeding cows from Australia and the US to Qatar will cost this businessman more than 8 million USD (about 180 billion VND).

Businessman Moutaz said that so far the impact of the sanctions on the lives of Qataris has been minimal. “Nobody feels the difference. The government is doing its best to ensure that there is no impact on the people,” Moutaz said.
