Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: America has failed in 40 years of challenging Iran
(Baonghean.vn) - Iran's state television reported that the country's supreme leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on November 3 that the US has been unable to reassert its rule over Tehran since Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution overthrew US-backed King Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi.

Speaking at a meeting with thousands of students, Mr. Khamenei said: "The goal of the United States is to re-establish the dominance it had (before 1979), but it has failed. The United States has been defeated by this Islamic Republic for the past 40 years."
Iran's Supreme Leader asserted: "The new US president (Mr. Trump) has rejected the remnants of American prestige as well as liberal democracy. The hard power of the US, such as economic and military power, is also being rejected by Mr. Trump."
In addition, Mr. Khamenei also said that the world opposes every decision of US President Donald Trump.
On the same day, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif called on Europe to maintain support for Tehran, as Washington is about to re-impose sanctions targeting the Islamic Republic's key oil sector.
Washington on November 4 will reimpose sanctions on Iran's key oil exports and banking sectors to force Tehran to curb its missile and regional activities and accept tougher curbs on its nuclear program./.
