The Webometrics ranking is not only based on the scale, number of visits or website design, but also focuses on promoting electronic publication of research results, documents and scientific information; at the same time, it evaluates the overall quality of all aspects of the activities of higher education institutions presented on the website, especially research results and the number of publications in the Scopus database.

In this ranking, Vietnamese higher education institutions have low rankings mainly due to limited academic quality criteria (number of international publications).
