The 14th Congress of Women's Representatives of Nghe An Province, term 2011-2016
(Baonghean)This morning, October 13th, in Vinh City, the Nghe An Provincial Women's Union held the opening ceremony of the 14th Provincial Women's Congress, for the term 2011-2016.
Attending the opening ceremony were: Tran Thanh Binh, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union; representatives of the Women's Union of the 4th Military Region Command; and the Women's Unions of the North Central provinces.
On the provincial leadership side were: Phan Dinh Trac - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of provincial departments and agencies; Heroic Vietnamese Mother Le Thi Xan, Hero of the Armed Forces Nguyen Thi Hanh, Labor Hero Hoang Thi Lien, leaders of the Association from various periods and 245 outstanding delegates.

The report from the Provincial Women's Union shows that over the past five years, women of all walks of life throughout the province have united, been dynamic and creative, and strived to uphold the fine traditions and qualities of Vietnamese women, making important contributions in various fields of social life and contributing to the successful completion of the province's socio-economic development tasks. The Union's activities have been focused, targeted, and in-depth, building many new and effective models. The content and methods of the Union's activities have been renewed, diversified, and enriched to suit each region and each group of women, meeting the needs and aspirations of the majority of women.
Women's Unions at all levels have comprehensively fulfilled the targets set forth in the Resolution of the 13th National Women's Congress, such as: 100% of cadres and 82% of female members have access to propaganda and education activities on ethics, lifestyle, laws, and policies of the Party and State on gender and gender equality; 85% of member families meet the criteria of a family with 4 standards; 100% of poor households headed by women have received assistance, including 15,162 poor households headed by women escaping poverty; vocational training and job placement have been provided for over 35,000 female workers; the membership rate has reached 68%...
During the 2011-2016 term, the Association set the following goals: “To unite and mobilize women from all walks of life, unleash their potential and inner strength, actively participate in socio-economic development; improve material and spiritual lives, build happy and prosperous families; and cultivate Nghe An women who are ‘patriotic, creative, capable, loyal, and compassionate,’ contributing to making Nghe An a relatively prosperous province in the Northern region.” Accordingly, the Association proposed six specific groups of solutions based on the organization's key tasks...
At the Congress, the grassroots organizations presented many opinions and discussions on activities such as: "The role of the Women's Union in advising the Party Committee on the planning, training, and development of female cadres" by the Thanh Chuong Women's Union; "Innovating working methods and building a strong Women's Union" by the Dien Hung Commune Women's Union; "Women's Union work in specialized sectors: the military, the police"...


Comrade Phan Dinh Trac delivered a speech and presented a banner from the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to the Provincial Women's Union.

Delegates are elected by vote.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Provincial Party Secretary Phan Dinh Trac acknowledged and praised the achievements of the Women's Union at all levels throughout the province during the past term. He expressed his hope that in the coming time, the Women's Union at all levels should focus on implementing several key tasks: Continuing to promote patriotic emulation campaigns and movements, as well as the key tasks of the organization; regularly paying attention to educating women on moral qualities and improving their overall capacity and skills; and strengthening the mobilization of women to participate in building cultured families, prosperous, equal, progressive, and happy families.
On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee, Comrade Phan Dinh Trac presented the Provincial Women's Union with a banner bearing the inscription: "Nghe An women are patriotic, creative, capable, and compassionate."
The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Provincial Women's Union for the 14th term; and elected the delegation to attend the 11th National Women's Congress, which will take place in early 2012.
