Fifth Congress of Delegates of the Fatherland Front Committee of Cua Lo Town

(Baonghean.vn) - On April 15th and 16th, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cua Lo town held its 5th Congress of Delegates for the 2014-2019 term. Attending the Congress were leaders of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, leaders of the town and wards, and 121 delegates elected through grassroots-level congresses.

Over the past five years, implementing Resolution IV of the 2008-2014 term, political and social organizations in Cua Lo town have actively propagated the resolutions and policies of the Party and State, as well as Ho Chi Minh's ideology on national unity; closely followed the leadership and management of the Party committee and government; actively innovated content; strengthened mass mobilization work; stayed close to the grassroots; built many practical activity models; and the number of members participating in activities has increased compared to the beginning of the term.

Economic growth rates reached 9.8-16.2% per year, per capita income reached 52.8 million VND per year; the poverty rate decreased to 5.7%. The "All People Unite to Build a Better Life in Residential Areas" campaign, led by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, continued to spread throughout the community. The movement to build culturally exemplary families and units made significant progress, and the people's cultural behavior and tourism business culture improved. By 2013, Cua Lo town had 78.8% of its blocks recognized as culturally exemplary units, 91.5% of families recognized as culturally exemplary families, and 21 out of 22 schools recognized as meeting national standards. Fundraising for the Poor reached nearly 3 billion VND and the Gratitude Fund reached 1.2 billion VND...

The Congress discussed and adopted a Resolution on the direction, tasks, and action program for the 5th term, 2014-2019. With a diversified approach to activities, broad unity among all strata of the people, and the building of national unity, the goal is to develop Cua Lo town into a prosperous, civilized, and modern coastal tourist city. The Congress elected 50 delegates to the Cua Lo Town Fatherland Front Committee for the 5th term, 2014-2019, and elected 6 official delegates and one alternate delegate to attend the 13th Congress of the Nghe An Provincial Fatherland Front.
