13th Party Congress: Economic and Social Subcommittee seeks opinions from former Party and State leaders
The opinions of former leaders contribute significantly to perfecting the viewpoints and development orientations, both strategic and tactical in all fields.
On the morning of August 26, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Head of the Socio-Economic Subcommittee preparing for the 13th National Party Congress chaired a conference to seek opinions from former leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front on draft documents.
Emphasizing that the Congress documents are the crystallization of the wisdom, potential and strength of the Party, State and people, the Prime Minister said that it is necessary to filter the most quintessential and quintessence of opinions from all levels, sectors, people, researchers, scientists..., especially the opinions of former leaders of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front to continue perfecting the draft.

Also attending the conference were Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong; Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc respectfully thanked former leaders of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front for always following the country's situation and supporting the Party and State in carrying out the tasks of socio-economic development, national defense, security and foreign affairs.
The Prime Minister hopes that at this conference, the Subcommittee will listen to enthusiastic opinions on the 10-year Socio-Economic Development Strategy 2021-2030 and the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Orientation 2021-2025. The Prime Minister emphasized that these are very important opinions, because the former leaders are experienced in leading, managing, and operating the work of the Party and the State; always concerned about the major issues of the country and the difficulties of the people.

“Drafting documents is an important issue, decisive for the future development of the country in the next 5 to 10 years, until 2030, the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding, with a vision to 2045, the 100th anniversary of the country's founding. From economy, society, environment, national defense, security, from solving domestic issues to foreign affairs in the context of unpredictable international developments.
Therefore, the opinions of former leaders today contribute significantly to perfecting the viewpoints and development orientations, both strategic and tactical in all fields; at the same time, consolidating the trust and strength of solidarity, unity, cohesion, inheritance with a high sense of responsibility among generations of leaders in our Party and State, all for the people, for the country, for the bright future of the nation" - the Prime Minister emphasized.
Next, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc announced the major contents of the draft 10-year socio-economic development strategy and 5-year socio-economic development orientation and asked for comments on these contents.
In which, the Prime Minister emphasized the important results of the country's socio-economic development after more than 30 years of renovation, and analyzed the complex context of the world, the domestic situation with the issues raised. In that context, both internal and external requirements to avoid falling behind, narrow the development gap, require continuing to promote the renovation process, making the country develop more strongly, sustainably, and more effectively.

Based on that request, the Prime Minister said that the Subcommittee has discussed, thoroughly researched and proposed strategic goals, development perspectives, strategic breakthroughs, orientations and key solutions for the next 5-10 years, with a vision to 2045. Hoping that former leaders would give their opinions on these contents, the Prime Minister said that correct and accurate assessments of the international and domestic situation will help the country not miss opportunities, take advantage of the strong development of science and technology, of the fourth industrial revolution, especially in industries where Vietnam has advantages such as agriculture, high-tech processing and manufacturing, information technology, tourism services, etc.
The Prime Minister said that after being assigned the task by the Central Government, the Socio-Economic Subcommittee has developed a master plan of activities and seriously implemented the assigned tasks. The Subcommittee requested localities, ministries and branches to summarize and report; assigned agencies, research institutes and universities to conduct research on 42 scientific topics; organized 6 working sessions with localities in 6 regions nationwide; organized many seminars to widely collect opinions from scientists and experts at home and abroad.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the spirit of drafting documents is not to be done in a cold room but must be done from the reality of life, from the aspirations of the people, from the development requirements of the country. The subcommittee must draft documents with the spirit of acceptance by the Party, excitement by the people, and high appreciation by the international community.
