65 countries voted for the adoption of this document, 27 countries voted against and most countries (70) abstained.
The representative of the Russian permanent mission, in his speech at the General Assembly session, noted that "this resolution is excessively politicized, based on inaccurate and fake information." "This is an anti-Russian, false, cunning document," the diplomat added.
He recalled that until 2014, Crimea was an oppressed region within Ukraine and "people started caring about the Tatars only when Crimea was forever separated from them".
The representative of the permanent mission noted that today the inhabitants of the peninsula are "happy people", and invited everyone to visit this land, "ask the Ukrainians who come there to rest whether their rights are being violated".
"The Russian Federation guarantees the protection of rights and freedoms throughout its territory, including Crimea," the diplomat concluded.
In two years (2016, 2017), 70 countries voted for the resolution, 26 voted against, and the number of countries that abstained was 77 and 76, respectively. Among the supporters of Ukraine's initiative, traditionally, most are European countries and the United States.
