Taiwan has its first female leader
According to AFP, Ms. Tsai Ing-wen - candidate of the main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), will become the first female leader of Taiwan (China) after the ruling Kuomintang (KMT) admitted defeat in the presidential election on January 16 on this island.

Speaking at the KTM headquarters in Taipei, the party's candidate, Chu Lap Luan, said: "I'm sorry... We failed. The KMT was defeated in the election. We failed to meet the expectations of the voters."
The vote counting process is still ongoing and election results broadcast live on television showed that Ms. Tsai Ing-wen won about 60% of the vote, while Mr. Chu received about 30% of the vote.
