With the support of the Taiwanese (China) government, the Hualien County Agricultural Research and Development Station has successfully developed rice with a different color compared to the currently available, which is mostly white rice.

According to focustaiwan.tw, the research station spent seven years developing technology to add natural color to rice using vegetables.

Scientists at this research station say that colored rice can add interest and appeal to consumers, especially children.

Since ancient times, Southeast Asian and Indian countries have used natural colors such as turmeric and herbs to color rice.

A research station in Taiwan emphasized that using the natural colors of vegetables to produce multicolored rice is "very safe and creates a delicious taste."

Colored rice is not only aimed at families but also at restaurants looking for creative dishes. Additionally, this food item can be used as a gift for customers.

The Hualien County Agricultural Research and Development Station stated that initially, this technology only allowed for the small-scale production of colored rice. However, after a period of development, the research station has created a technology that enables mass production of this type of colored rice.

After receiving the patent, the station transferred the technology to the private sector. Each day, this area can produce approximately 2 tons of colored rice.
