Japanese radio says former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has passed away
Former Prime Minister Abe died after undergoing emergency treatment in hospital, according to NHK.
"Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has died at the age of 67 at a hospital in Kashihara city, Nara prefecture, where he was receiving medical treatment," a senior Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) official said.NHKtoday's news.
This is the first assassination attempt on a former or current Japanese prime minister since the militarist era of the 1930s.
