(Baonghean.vn) - RT reported on September 7 that Moscow's Ambassador to the United Nations said that the speculation of the US and its allies that the Syrian government is about to use chemical weapons in Idlib is similar to an Agatha Christie novel, meaning the crime scene is laid out publicly from the beginning.

“The accusation that the Syrian government intends to use toxic substances in Idlib is presented as a fait accompli,” Russia’s representative to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia said at a session of the United Nations Security Council on September 6.

The diplomat was referring to repeated warnings by the US and its allies about what they say are preparations by Damascus to carry out a chemical attack. However, concrete evidence to back up these claims has yet to be presented.

“Agatha Christie’s novel ‘Death Foretold’ comes to mind, as the impending crime is reported in a newspaper, including the time and place,” Nebenzia added, noting that onlookers who arrived at the scene were not disappointed with what they saw.

Meanwhile, according to RT, the US continues to maintain its old story about plans attributed to Damascus. In his first interview with a small group of reporters, Washington’s newly appointed Syria adviser Jim Jeffrey said there is “a lot of evidence that chemical weapons are being prepared,” citing “very strong evidence” for such a warning. This information comes after US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley predicted that if a chemical attack occurs, she “knows” who the perpetrator is.

However, the Moscow ambassador stressed that the figures who made the above statements did not give any explanation about the Syrian state's motives for wanting to poison civilians. On the other hand, such warnings could be seen as "an invitation to terrorists" to launch "false flag" attacks, he stated.

“The Syrian authorities did not need such an attack, but the terrorists, for whom it was a provocation of aggression against Damascus, really needed it,” Nebenzia said at the session.

Moscow has repeatedly warned in recent weeks that chemical agents have been delivered to Syria and that militants guided by Western special services are preparing to stage an attack. This provocation would then be used to discredit the Syrian authorities and justify aggression against them, as has happened before.
