Japanese Ambassador supports sister city relationship between Vinh City and Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture

On the morning of December 15, the Japanese Embassy delegation led by Ambassador Kunio Umeda, together with Mr. Miyazawa Hiokyu - Member of the Japanese House of Representatives and some members of the Asaba Association, Shizuoka province paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Nghe An province. Receiving and working with the delegation, on the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. |
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh welcomed the delegation's visit on the occasion of attending the International Scientific Conference "Patriot Phan Boi Chau - Doctor Asaba Sakitaro and Vietnam - Japan Friendship Relations" and the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Patriot Phan Boi Chau and receiving the certificate of special national monument ranking forPhan Boi Chau Memorial Area in Nam Dan.
The Provincial Party Secretary expressed his joy that an international conference was held on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Phan Boi Chau's birth, to clarify the ideology of this patriot and create a foundation to strengthen and foster the Vietnam - Japan relationship.
“The workshop also shows the deep affection of the Japanese Government and people for the country and people of Vietnam, especially Nghe An - the homeland of Phan Boi Chau,” he affirmed.

The Provincial Party Secretary also thanked the Japanese Ambassador for asking the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange to support Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in finding volunteers to teach Japanese after his visit in August.
The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange sent a working group to survey the needs and implementation of Japanese language teaching at the school.
Although the school has not yet met the conditions to receive volunteers, the provincial leaders hope that the school will continue to receive the attention of the Ambassador and the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange for long-term cooperation in the future.
Besides, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh hopes that after this visit, Congressman Hiroyuki and members of the Asaba Association from Shizuoka province will help Nghe An province to continue developing good friendship with Japanese localities.
“In 2018, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, Nghe An has proactively prepared a number of activities to contribute to promoting the friendship between the two countries. We hope that Nghe An will be chosen as the venue for a number of foreign affairs and cultural exchange activities between the two countries, to contribute to deepening that relationship, developing both in breadth and depth,” emphasized comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh.

On behalf of the delegation, Japanese Ambassador Kunio Umeda thanked the provincial leaders for their good sentiments, expressed his respect and wished to continue to cooperate closely with Nghe An to contribute to enhancing the Vietnam-Japan relationship. The Japanese Ambassador said that in the coming time, he will continue to promote cooperation with Nghe An in human resource training, aid and technical cooperation in the field of agriculture, etc.
The Ambassador was pleased to announce that Japan will coordinate with Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted to organize a seminar on studying abroad in Japan this afternoon (December 15), promoting cooperation to train intellectuals to be the core to build a long-term relationship between the two sides.
The head of the Japanese diplomatic mission hopes that the delegation from Nghe An province will visit Shizuoka province of Japan in the near future, and supports the idea of a sister city relationship between Vinh city of Nghe An province and Fukuroi city of Shizuoka province.
Speaking with leaders of Nghe An province, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda warned about the situation of some study abroad companies and foreign language centers defrauding Vietnamese students to go to Japan. “About 20% of Vietnamese youths forge Japanese language certificates. In Nghe An, there are also some study abroad centers and companies that show signs of fraud,” the Ambassador said, asking the province to support the verification and correction of these cases. |
