(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 16th, the Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to Vietnam, Mr. Nicolaos D. Kanellos, held a working meeting with Mr. Ho Duc Phoc, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province. Also present to welcome the Ambassador were Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee, along with representatives from the Provincial Party Committee Office and various departments.
Upon arriving in Nghe An province – the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh – the Ambassador visited and offered incense and flowers at the Kim Lien historical site. Ambassador Kanellos expressed his admiration for the Father of the Nation – the pride of Nghe An province in particular and Vietnam in general. The rich culture, history, and traditions of this land were also among the reasons why he chose Vinh city as his first destination on this working trip to Vietnam. The shared emphasis on cultural values, linked to development in the new era through the tourism industry, can be seen as a common ground between Nghe An and Greece.

Knowing Nghe An as a province striving to accelerate its industrialization and modernization, aiming to become a relatively prosperous province in the country, Mr. Kanellos expressed his confidence and optimism in Nghe An's development potential. He also suggested plans for cooperation and investment promotion by Greek businesses in Nghe An in the near future. During his visit to Nghe An, Mr. Kanellos held discussions with leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Coming from a renowned tourism industry in Europe, Mr. Kanellos believes that linking agriculture and tourism – two outstanding potentials of Nghe An – to build an ecotourism value chain is a worthwhile direction, and Greece is ready to advise and support Nghe An in this matter.

Responding to the Greek Ambassador's well-intentioned proposals for potential cooperation in socio-economic development, Mr. Ho Duc Phoc expressed his gratitude and wholeheartedly agreed with the idea of expanding cooperative relations between Nghe An and Greece. In particular, the agreement on the transfer of "tourism technology" with a country with a strong tourism service industry like Greece is an invaluable opportunity for Nghe An. The Provincial Party Secretary also happily accepted the Ambassador's invitation to visit Greece and emphasized that Nghe An always desires more opportunities for contact and increased exchanges in economic, cultural, and social fields with Greece, a concrete example being the visit of a delegation of Greek businesses to Vietnam in June.
