Russian Embassy asks France to stop defaming Russia in the media
"Russia has never interfered and is not interfering in France's internal affairs," the press service of the Russian Embassy stressed.
On June 4, TASS reported that the Russian Embassy in France asked the French government to end its anti-Russian media campaign.
“The Russian Embassy expresses its strong protest against yet another anti-Russian campaign in the French media,” the embassy’s press service said in a statement. “This hysteria poses a direct threat to the safety of Russian citizens in France, including embassy staff. The embassy calls on the French authorities to put an end to the unprovoked and unfounded anti-Russian information campaign.”
The statement also stressed: "Russia has never interfered and is not currently interfering in France's internal affairs."
“We express our solidarity with French citizens who have become the target of a ‘witch hunt’ simply because they support the long-standing friendly relations between our countries,” the Russian embassy in France said.
Ahead of the European Parliament elections scheduled to be held this weekend, some French media outlets have speculated that Russia is seeking to interfere in the internal affairs of France and the European Union.
