Vietnam has 59,000 international students, 72,000 trainees and 200,000 tourists coming to Japan. Among the thousands of students, trainees from Nghe An in particular and Vietnam in general, many have studied hard, worked hard and succeeded in Japan.
In early 2017, Japan tightened its immigration policy for international students from 5 countries around the world, including Vietnam, because people who came to Japan illegally resided, stole property, and violated the law.
The increasing number of Vietnamese students, including Nghe An students, violating the law in Japan not only affects Japan's study abroad policy for Vietnam but also tarnishes the image of Vietnamese and Nghe An people in the eyes of the Japanese and the international community.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Kunio Umeda - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam affirmed the good traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
In the field of educational cooperation, Japan has a policy for Vietnamese students, creating favorable conditions for students to develop their abilities. The Ambassador hopes that students will promote their youth, overcome difficulties, strive to achieve high results in their studies; contribute to the development of Nghe An province, Vietnam as well as the region and the world.
The Ambassador noted that many Vietnamese students and interns go to Japan with the guidance of unreliable consulting companies from Vietnam and Japan, leading to an increase in cases of illegal residence and violations of the law in Japan.
“This time, we propose that the People's Committee of Nghe An province organize this workshop to help young people of Nghe An province understand more thoroughly about studying in Japan,” emphasized Mr. Kunio Umeda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam.
