Thai Ambassador pledges to promote expanded cooperation in many fields with Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Working with the leaders of Nghe An province, the Thai Ambassador to Vietnam pledged to promote cooperation in many areas: investment, education, and especially proposed that Nakhon Phanom province - where a large Vietnamese community of Thai origin lives, has a memorial house of President Ho Chi Minh - establish a sister province with Nghe An province.
On the morning of October 25, a working delegation from the Thai Embassy in Hanoi led by Mr. Tanee Sangrat - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam had a working session with leaders of Nghe An province.

Comprehensive cooperation
Comrade Thai Thanh Quy expressed his joy at welcoming the delegation of the Thai Embassy to visit and work with Nghe An province; at the same time, he informed about the socio-economic development situation of the province and the cooperation situation between Nghe An and Thailand in recent times.
Accordingly, in terms of investment, the province currently has 12 registered FDI projects from Thailand with a total registered capital of 228.2 million USD. Of which, Hemaraj Group of Thailand is licensed to implement the WHA Industrial Park - Nghe An infrastructure investment project with an area of 3,200 hectares in phase 1, a total investment of 92.2 million USD and a total investment commitment of 1 billion USD for both phases. This is the driving force for world enterprises in general and Thai enterprises in particular to invest in Nghe An.

In the fields of culture, sports and tourism, Nghe An is cooperating with Thai provinces within the framework of the Association of Provinces Using Road 8 and Road 12 of the three countries Vietnam - Laos - Thailand (APOTC) including: Bung Can, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Noong Khai. The two sides actively and regularly exchange culture, tourism, and sports at traditional festivals and meaningful events of the two sides.
In June 2016, Nghe An province launched the Vinh - Bangkok (Thailand) flight route. Up to now, 10 flights have been operated with a total of 1,600 passengers. This flight route will facilitate trade, economic and tourism exchanges between Nghe An and Thailand.
Vinh University also has cooperation activities with Thai universities in the form of exchanging staff, sharing teaching experiences, especially experiences in teaching specialized Math students at Vinh University High School for the Gifted.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province expressed his hope that through the Embassy, the Ambassador, with his position and influence, will continue to support Nghe An province in enhancing investment, trade and tourism cooperation activities with Thailand; joint research cooperation on culture, social health, and long-term and sustainable cooperation; contributing to promoting the Vietnam - Thailand strategic cooperation in the spirit of mutual benefit.
Twinning of Nakhon Phanom and Nghe An provinces
Appreciating the warm and friendly reception of the leaders of Nghe An province for the delegation, the Thai Ambassador said that in order to further strengthen the solidarity and cooperation between Thailand and Nghe An province in the coming time, the Thai Embassy proposed that Nakhon Phanom province - where there is a large community of Vietnamese-Thai people living and where there is a memorial house of President Ho Chi Minh - establish a sister province with Nghe An province.
In the field of education, there are currently more than 100 Thai students studying at Vinh University. Thailand is willing to support and connect Vinh University and the Thai Ministry of Higher Education to continue cooperation and development; at the same time, it wishes to establish a Thai language center in Nghe An.
Regarding the proposal to support the construction of a hospital for the poor in Nghe An province, according to the Thai Ambassador, initially, the province will be supported to build a 40-bed hospital, and then continue to develop it.

In promoting investment, the Thai Ambassador said that in addition to large enterprises that have invested in Nghe An, in the near future, there will continue to be enterprises of this country planning to promote investment in Nghe An.
As a bridge, the Thai Embassy will provide information about Nghe An’s potential and strengths to Thai investors. The Ambassador expressed his wish to invite Nghe An provincial leaders to visit Thailand and Nakhon Phanom province.

After listening to the proposal of Mr. Tanee Sangrat and Thai businesses, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Thanh Quy expressed his agreement with the proposals; at the same time, affirmed that Nghe An province will create conditions for the establishment of a Thai language teaching center and the establishment of a Thai Business Association in Nghe An...
The province pledges to cooperate closely, remove difficulties and promote development between Nghe An and Thailand in all fields, especially creating conditions for Thai enterprises to invest effectively in Nghe An.
At the same time, we hope that through the Embassy and the Thai business community in Nghe An, we will continue to connect so that Nghe An can have more relationships with Thai businesses and localities in the future.
