Thai Ambassador: Nghe An will be an attractive destination for Thai businesses in many fields

Speaking at the 10th Meeting with Investors, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam Manopchai Vongphakdi affirmed that Vietnam is a comprehensive strategic partner of Thailand. In particular, economic cooperation is an important milestone in the Thailand-Vietnam relationship.

“Over the past 5 years, the growth rate of cooperation reached 21.9%, an increase of 28 billion USD. We can fully expect to bring bilateral trade turnover to 20 billion USD before 2020, supporting each other to become the center of attracting trade investment in the region” – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary declared.

In that development cooperation relationship, Nghe An province is considered a “bridge” in promoting the bilateral relationship between Thailand and Vietnam. With many solutions and preferential policies, Nghe An has attracted 5 effective projects of Thai enterprises. Pioneering investment activities in Nghe An, in 2013, Royal Foods Group of Thailand invested in a seafood processing and cold storage project in Nghe An.

In particular, in 2016, Hemaraj Group conducted a survey to build the WHA Industrial Park project with a scale of 3,200 hectares, with a total investment capital of up to 1 billion USD, which is considered the largest project of a Thai enterprise in Nghe An, contributing to the overall development of the locality.

With the development of multimodal transport connections including road, sea, and air between the two countries such as the highway connecting Thailand - Laos - Vietnam, the coastal transport route between Thailand - Cambodia - Vietnam, along with the internal strength of Nghe An province such as abundant human resources, regularly improved infrastructure, and developed logistics system, Ambassador Manopchai Vongphakdi believes that Nghe An will become an attractive destination for large Thai enterprises.

“Nghe An will become a strategic “bridge” and gateway connecting in the Southeast Asian region, as well as contributing to strengthening the sustainable cooperative relationship between Thailand and Vietnam in general” – the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary emphasized.

Along with investment cooperation, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam also hopes that Nghe An will be an attractive destination in the fields of education and tourism for Thai people.
