Stabbed roommate to death
Mia Ayliffe Chung was stabbed to death by her roommate at a backpacker hostel in Queensland, Australia on the evening of August 23.
At 11:15 p.m., Chris Porter, 21, a British man, was sleeping soundly when he woke up and discovered a man holding a knife and repeatedly stabbing his roommate, Mia Ayliffe Chung, in the face, killing her on the spot. When the man turned his attention to Porter, he was forced to jump out of a second-floor window to escape, according to Mirror.

The culprit isSmail Ayad, 29 years old,A tourist who shared a room with the victims stabbed four people, including Mia Ayliffe Chung, two others and a British tourist, Tom Jackson.

Tom Jackson tried to save Mia Ayliffe Chung but was also stabbed and is in a critical condition in Townsville Hospital. The other two suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses at the time said Smail Ayad sang the French national anthem and shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is great) before stabbing the victims.
Police have arrested Smail Ayad and are investigating the cause of the incident.
