According to the investigation, Hau went to Da Nang to work as a bricklayer and rented a room in Lien Chieu district with three other bricklayers from the same hometown: Mai Quoc Thang (25 years old), Huynh Thanh Tin, and Nguyen Le Anh Tuan (both 24 years old).

Every day, the group of masons went to work on a construction site in Hoi An City (Quang Nam). Recently, Hau had a conflict with Tin and Thang. On the afternoon of March 3, due to the conflict growing and not being resolved, Hau packed up his belongings to move to a new room, carrying with him the resentment in his heart.
To get revenge, Hau bought a knife about 25 cm long, hid it on his person, then returned to the construction site to wait for Tin and Thang to return together. On the way from Hoi An to Da Nang, Hau drove Tuan, while Tin drove Thang. When they reached the intersection of Van Tien Dung - Nguyen Xuan Lam (Hoa Xuan ward, Cam Le district, Da Nang), Hau drove parallel and asked Tin and Thang to give Hau money to "borrow" to move to another boarding house.
Tin and Thang did not agree, so Hau forced them to stop the car. Hau then pulled out a knife and stabbed Thang in the back and chased Tin. Too scared, Tin quickly abandoned the car to escape, but Hau stole Tin's motorbike and fled back to his hometown in Binh Dinh province. After Hau left, Thang was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital by his two colleagues Tin and Tuan, who saved his life.
After collecting evidence and conducting a search, Cam Le District Police arrested Hau while he was hiding at a construction site in Binh Dinh Province. Currently, Cam Le District Police continue to investigate Han's acts of robbery and intentional injury./.
