Dam Vinh Hung sings bolero in a unique way, which to journalist Minh Duc is considered a “gangster” style of singing bolero. The above comments were shared during the Saigon Bolero & Hung music night held on the evening of August 26 at the National Convention Center (Hanoi).

After the show in Ho Chi Minh City at the beginning of the month, Dam Vinh Hung and his crew moved the entire stage to Hanoi, so that the audience could see the old Saigon right in the capital. Not only that, Dam Vinh Hung knew how to "please" the audience by setting up a corner of the space of a tailor shop, a coffee shop, and a sidewalk restaurant in old Saigon.

Audiences can take photos, enjoy food such as sticky rice, sweet soup, or be given paper fans like the old Saigon people when going to the theater. Dam Vinh Hung always knows how to create "tricks" and "games" that appeal to the interests and tastes of the audience who love Dam Vinh Hung's voice and bolero music.

A rather interesting performance in the program was a mash-up of the songs Reminiscence, Sunset Train, People from the Street, and Past Love Story, with the collaboration between Dam Vinh Hung and Hoai Lam. The two singers sang with musicians who looked like street musicians at a coffee shop. Dam Vinh Hung also brought funeral music to the stage, the song Footprints of Memories resounded with the sound of trumpets in the funeral.

Dam Vinh Hung said he wants his music nights to always have something “unique”. In Saigon Bolero & Hung, the “unique” items are 3 bolero songs that were licensed for the first time: Tinh Bo Vo (Lam Phuong), Thuong Hat (Che Linh wrote with Ho Dinh Phuong), Chieu Mua Bien Gioi (Nguyen Van Dong). As for the song Tinh Bo Vo, he has been pursuing the licensing process for 8 years.

Dam Vinh Hung said, Tinh lo vo was written by Lam Phuong in jazz style. But with the singing of Che Linh and Thanh Tuyen, this song was shaped in the audience with bolero music.

On stage, Dam Vinh Hung recreated the image of artist Thanh Nga through the transformation of singer Ha Thanh Xuan, singing with him the song Rain Forest. Following that, Dam Vinh Hung and singer Huong Lan performed the song Phan to tam with the images of great artists of Vietnamese modern music and reformed opera appearing on silk as a tribute and remembrance.

The lyrics resounded: "People speak as their hearts think, that my singing career has committed no crime, perhaps I have committed a crime against life, making the world infatuated...". This performance created one of the highlights of the program.

Bolero was sung with the melodies of jazz, swing, and pop. Dam Vinh Hung showed how he tried to “gild” the bolero genre as he had said before. Each audience recognized that effort differently, but perhaps what many people agree on is that Dam Vinh Hung sings bolero in his own unique style.
