To "save" the rice crop, in the fields of Hua Na village, Luc Da commune, the entire village mobilized to build mounds of sand and gravel to reinforce the fields along the Moi stream and prevent erosion. In just one morning (April 28th), the villagers made 194 mounds to hold the stones and gravel.

Hua Na village has 194 households with 54 hectares of spring rice fields. Being a remote village, it lacks the funds to build embankments. Therefore, every year during the rainy season, the villagers have to work together to weave baskets filled with soil, stones, sand, and gravel to create temporary embankments to prevent landslides from encroaching on their fields.
