Most residents say the peninsula has "revived" after the 2014 referendum.

"When an apartment has not been cleaned for a long time, it looks very unsightly. That was the case when it was part of Ukraine... Now the city is neat and orderly" — a female resident of Sevastopol commented.

According to the people of Crimea, they "don't even want to remember life in Ukraine anymore".

"For me, being part of Ukraine was terrible. Everything was gray. We were like under occupation. Our children couldn't even go to a regular university because of the Ukrainian language. Everything was a mess…" — one woman said, noting that "Sevastopol has always been Russian land".

According to the city's residents, after the Crimean peninsula was annexed to the Russian Federation "everything changed for the better".

However, Crimeans also point out some problems. According to them, the cost of living on the peninsula needs to be lower.
