To get rainwater into the large tank, Ms. Huong created a gutter that runs the length of the roof. From the gutter, she leads the water into a plastic pipe, then runs it into a large basin containing sand, gravel, and a thick piece of burlap for filtering. The rainwater filtered in this way is used for drinking, while tap water is only used for bathing and washing. Photo: Nhat Lan |

Also in Tay Ho block, many households get their water from rainwater; some households buy water filters; but many households have spent money to hire workers to drill wells. For example, the family of Au Dang Son - the village captain of Tay Ho block (in the photo) had to spend 13 million VND to hire workers to drill a well for more than a week but it still hasn't been completed. Mr. Au Dang Son said that the reason why drilling a water well in Quy Hop town takes a long time and costs tens of millions of dong is because it requires drilling 40 - 50m deep into the ground; drilling through layers of rock. Photo: Ngo Kien |

According to Mr. Le Sy Hao - Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quy Hop district (pictured), voters of Quy Hop town have many opinions on the issue of domestic water. And these issues are of interest to the District Party Committee and People's Committee to find solutions. Quy Hop district has also chosen a water source from the Nam Son and Bac Son areas to the Dinh River to replace the current water source. However, to do this, many households in the town are dependent on the water supply unit, so they have to create their own domestic water source. In the photo is the location of the new water source that has been selected, where Nam Choong stream converges with Dinh river, at the foot of Chau Dinh bridge, only about 2km from Quy Hop town.
