It should be noted that while chairing the parliamentary meeting, Mr. Gaffney expressed his dissatisfaction that his statements in the closed meeting had been leaked to the Israeli media. Taking this into account, the politician noted that Israel was "turning into a Russia."
Commenting on the above strange statement, the Russian Embassy in Tel Aviv announced that it invited Mr. Moshe Gafni to Russia to personally verify the political freedom in the country.
"The embassy is concerned about the statement of MP Moshe Gafni, who seems to suggest that there are restrictions on Russian politicians in communicating with voters. This opinion clearly shows a lack of genuine understanding of the democracy that has been developing in Russia since 1991," — the diplomatic mission commented on its Facebook page.
In addition, the Russian Embassy proposed that Mr. Gafni become an observer in the upcoming presidential election in Russia on March 18, 2018.
