The two-year-old tigress was captured in July for killing two villagers and injuring four others. Under Indian law, she was released into a wildlife sanctuary. However, earlier this month, she killed two more people.
A court in the state of Mahrashtra has ruled that the two-year-old tigress should be shot dead. After several hours of intensive search, police discovered the body of the tiger, which had stepped on a barbed wire fence in a nearby village.
Mr. Rishikesh Ranjan, director of the Tiger Conservation Department in India, said that villagers have set up electrified barbed wire fences to drive away wild animals, especially wild boars,” Mr. Ranjan added.
According to 2014 statistics, India is currently home to more than 2,000 tigers./.
