(Baonghean.vn) - Through a survey conducted in 156 countries, on March 16,The United Nations announcedWorld Happiness Report 2016. Accordingly,Denmark has been named the happiest country in the world for the third time in four years.
Following Denmark are Switzerland, Iceland and Norway, respectively. Switzerland is the happiest country in the world according to the 2015 Report.
People in Burundi are the least satisfied with their lives. Benin (ranked 153), Afghanistan (154), Togo (155) and Syria (156) also do not fare so well.
The United States ranked 13th on the happiness measure, falling behind Canada (6th), the Netherlands (7th), New Zealand (8th), Australia (9th), Sweden (10th), Israel (11th) and Austria (12th).
Germany ranked 16th, while other superpowers such as the UK ranked 23rd, Japan ranked 53rd and Russia ranked 56th. The country with the world's second largest economy - China - ranked only modestly at 83rd out of 156 countries.
Several countries suffering economic and political crises – including Greece, Italy and Spain – along with Ukraine, which has seen a complex political upheaval, saw significant drops in happiness.
