Residents of Ringaskiddy village, County Cork, southeast Ireland, UK, claim that the smell coming from a nearby Viagra factory affects men in the village, CTPost reported.
Sadie, a woman in Ringaskiddy, half-jokes that thanks to the 20-year-old factory, the air in the village is filled with the "taste of love" and the men do not have any physiological problems.
“It's strange that quite a few people come to this village, perhaps out of curiosity, and then never leave,” said Sadie.
Some others believe that if it weren't for the strange smell in the air, the Viagra factory would have contaminated the village's water supply.
"I think Viagra got into the tap water," Fiona Toomey, 37, who used to work at a Pfizer factory, told the Sunday Times.
According to Toomey, not only the men in the village but also the dogs "frequently wandered around in a state of 'heat'."
News of the "Viagra village" has attracted the attention of internet users. Many people are jealous of the locals, others wish to go to Ringaskiddy village for their honeymoon.
Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company that produces the "miracle drug" Viagra, denied the information and said it was just a rumor. "Our production process is extremely complex and tightly controlled," Pfizer told the media.
While there is no research to substantiate the suspicions of the villagers of Ringaskiddy, figures show that in the 1980s, when the nearby Viagra factory began operating, the village saw an unusual population boom.
