How do men urinate properly?
The male urethra is S-shaped, so it is better to urinate standing up. If you urinate sitting down, the urethra will bend into a hook shape, causing pelvic congestion, difficulty in completely urinating, and long-term inflammation of the urethra and bladder.

Many people think urine is the body's "waste", but experts confirm that it is a "health measure" that accurately reflects a person's health condition. When food is absorbed into the body, in addition to beneficial nutrients, the digestive process also forms urea, uric acid, creatinine, creatine and other toxins in the blood, which if not promptly excreted through urine will affect health. There are some standards for urine condition that show a healthy body. If these indicators are different, it shows that the body is sick.
LifeTime newspaper published the conclusion of a urologist about urine indicators as follows:
Urine color
Healthy urine is pale yellow, not precipitated, not cloudy. If the urine is too cloudy, precipitated or sweet, it is likely that your body is sick. Many factors can affect the color of urine, such as drinking too much or too little water, changes in temperature, color of food and medication. If you drink water regularly, urine may be colorless, if you drink less or sweat more, urine may be dark yellow, such as drinking beer, this is completely normal.
Number of times urinating
You should not urinate more than 8 times a day. According to Dr. Yang Yong, Head of the Department of Urology, Beijing Cancer Hospital, China, in theory, you should not urinate more than 8 times a day, ideally 7 times a day and once at night. "However, each individual has different drinking habits, so the amount of urine is different. Basically, urinating 4 to 6 times during the day is also normal." It is best to urinate no more than 2 times at night. If you do not drink much water at night but still wake up to urinate many times, be careful, you may be sick.
Urine volume
The ideal amount of urine is 1,500 ml per day. However, it depends on the amount of water you drink and sweat. If your urine is between 400 ml and 3,000 ml, there is no problem, but if it is less than 400 ml, you have oliguria, and if it is more than 3,000 ml, you have polyuria (or diabetes).
Correct posture when urinating
Men should urinate standing up. Professor Jiang Hui, director of the Center for Andrology at Peking University Third Hospital, said that the male urethra is S-shaped. When urinating standing up, under the influence of gravity, the urine will be discharged naturally. If urinating sitting down, the urethra becomes hook-shaped, is compressed and causes pelvic congestion, making it difficult to completely discharge urine. This condition, if prolonged, will lead to urethritis and cystitis.
Do not sit down immediately after urinating, because urine can flow back, urinary tract bacteria will cause prostatitis. After urinating, press your finger into the perineum (between the anus and genitals) to squeeze out any remaining urine, avoiding the risk of chronic prostatitis.
Strong urination force does not mean strong sexual ability. Many men think that the sound, strength and time of urination are manifestations of sexual ability, but in fact these two issues are not related to each other. Sexual ability depends on the erection and durability during intercourse due to blood circulation of the penis, not related to urination.
If the urine is divided into many streams, do not worry too much. This is mainly due to the obstruction of the opening of the urethra, the urine is retained, increasing the pressure in the bladder, when excreted, a large amount of urine will be released, temporarily changing the shape of the urethra, causing a stream when urinating. A small amount of semen remaining in the urethra combined with an erection of the penis also causes a branch when urinating. Both of the above cases are normal, but if it occurs frequently, you should see a urologist.
