North Korea displayed heavy weapons in a military parade in the capital Pyongyang, but no long-range ballistic missiles.

North Korea today celebrated its 70th anniversary with a series of celebratory activities, most notably a large-scale military parade in Kim Il Sung Square with the participation of thousands of soldiers and hundreds of military equipment, according toNK Pro.Pictured is the transporter erector launcher (TEL) of the KN-06 long-range air defense system, the largest weapon displayed by North Korea in the parade.

Since early morning, hundreds of military vehicles have lined up along the riverbank in Pyongyang to prepare for the three-hour parade. The equipment appearing in this parade is mainly land-based weapons systems. In the photo is an anti-ship missile system with a range of 200 km mounted on a tracked chassis to increase mobility. This system was first introduced by North Korea in April last year, most likely using missiles copied from Russia's Kh-35 series.

Short-range air defense vehicles, developed from the Soviet Strela-10M air defense complex platform.

The Pokpung-ho (Storm Tiger) tank passed in front of the stage. This is the most modern tank model in the North Korean army's inventory, possessing many features on par with modern tanks such as the American M1 Abrams or the Korean K1. In addition to the 125mm smoothbore cannon and a pair of machine guns, the vehicle is also equipped with two anti-tank guided missiles and two shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles to increase firepower.

Many tanks and self-propelled artillery appearing in the parade still had the words "Destroy the invading American imperialists, enemies of Korea" painted on the front.

The KN-09 multiple rocket launcher, one of the new main long-range anti-ground weapons, was put into service by the North Korean army in 2016. Each KN-09 can carry eight 300mm shells, with a range of up to 200km.

The RM-70 multiple launch rocket system carrying soldiers and ammunition passes the stage. The RM-70 system was developed by Czechoslovakia from the Soviet BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system. Each RM-70 launcher is equipped with 40 122 mm rockets, with a maximum range of 21 km.
The M1978 Koksan self-propelled howitzer enters Kim Il Sung Square. North Korea has deployed about 500 Koksan self-propelled howitzers near the inter-Korean Demilitarized Zone. This type of artillery has a range of up to 40 km with conventional ammunition or 60 km with extended-range ammunition, far surpassing South Korea's most modern K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzer in both range and destructive power.
A new self-propelled artillery model, never before announced by North Korea. In addition to the weapon systems that have appeared many times, North Korea also introduced a series of new weapons, causing military analysts to make many comments about their features and purposes.
The armored vehicles appear to be equipped with anti-tank guided missiles, similar to the newly developed Kornet-D system by Russia. This is also one of the weapons that Pyongyang debuted in today's parade.
The parade car with a map of the unified Korean peninsula, showing the three inter-Korean summit dates this year: April 27, June 15 and October 4. The absence of long-range missile systems in the parade seems to signal that North Korea has goodwill and sincerity in its denuclearization efforts, as well as showing leader Kim Jong-un's focus on economic and scientific development in the coming time.
