Dam Sen Cultural Park (Ho Chi Minh City) is planning to create a giant banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cake) to offer as a tribute during the upcoming Hung Kings Commemoration Ceremony.

Specifically, the Ancestor Commemoration Ceremony will be held at Dam Sen Park at 8:00 AM on April 16th on the Au Lac Square stage within the park.

Besides typical products from the South, the offerings presented by Dam Sen Park to the National Ancestor this year also included a 2.5-ton banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cake), which was wrapped and cooked right in the park.

According to information from Dam Sen Park, wrapping this giant rice cake requires 1,200 kg of glutinous rice, 300 kg of mung beans, 200 kg of pork, 300 kg of banana leaves, and 50 kg of dong leaves. 50 artisans will work together to wrap the cake on the afternoon of April 13th. The cake will be boiled for 70 hours.

After the ceremony honoring the National Ancestor, the giant banh chung (Vietnamese rice cake) will be cut and offered to all visitors. Because the cake weighs 2.5 tons, it's enough for more than 1,000 people to enjoy.

Currently, Dam Sen Park is finalizing preparations, ready to make this special banh chung (Vietnamese rice cake).
