The Communist Party of the United States sends a message of friendship to the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The 13th National Congress of the Party is taking place at the National Convention Center, My Dinh (Hanoi).

On the occasion of the 13th National Congress of the Party, the Communist Party of the United States sent a message of friendship to the Communist Party of Vietnam with good wishes.

The message of the Communist Party of the USA, signed by Mr. Alvaro Rodriguez - General Secretary in charge of international affairs of the Communist Party of the USA on behalf of the Presidents of the Communist Party of the USA Rossamna Cambron and Joe Sims, emphasized that 2020 was a difficult year for all countries around the world due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In that context, Vietnam, under the leadership and direction of the Communist Party of Vietnam, has achieved many great successes.

First of all, Vietnam has been a shining example on the international stage in controlling and containing the Covid-19 pandemic. By putting the lives and well-being of its people first, Vietnam has recorded minimal cases of infection and deaths from Covid-19. The Communist Party of Vietnam has shown the world what is possible when governments serve the people rather than finances. Even with the decision to put the lives of its people above the needs of businesses, Vietnam has emerged as one of the few economies in the world to grow in 2020.

Vietnam also had a successful tenure as ASEAN Chair in 2020. Under its leadership, regional cooperation reached new heights, culminating in the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the world’s largest trade agreement. This agreement will help countries in East Asia, Oceania and beyond rebuild and recover from the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The internationalism of the Communist Party of Vietnam, however, has not been limited to the region but has spread across the world. One example is Vietnam’s role as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in 2020. In this capacity, Vietnam is a voice of stability and peace around the world. Vietnam has also increased the number of peacekeeping troops and military doctors deployed around the world, particularly to help some of the most disenfranchised and war-torn countries in Africa.

"As members of the Communist Party of the United States, we understand Vietnam's steadfast commitment to international friendship. The Communist Party of Vietnam has donated thousands of masks to working people in the United States through distribution by the Communist Party of the United States. We remain grateful for the strong bilateral relationship with the Communist Party of Vietnam and look forward to a future of continued friendship, cooperation, and camaraderie," the Communist Party of the United States' message emphasized.

"As 2021 begins and Vietnam prepares for the 13th National Party Congress, we at the Communist Party of the United States wish our comrades in Vietnam much success on the path to continuing to build socialism and a better world. The many difficulties the world experienced in 2020 will continue in the new year along with many new challenges. The Communist Party of Vietnam will face the challenge of distributing a Covid-19 vaccine and rebuilding the sectors of the economy that have been most affected by the current international crisis. The Communist Party of the United States continues to steadfastly support the friendship with the Communist Party of Vietnam in all current and future challenges while working together to build socialism in the world," the message stated.
