From his position as leader of the Youth Committee and then becoming a member of the Central Committee of the French Communist Party, Henry always held high the torch to light the way and urged communists in the struggle against injustice. Henry was always loyal to his ideals, paving the way for fighters to fight for peace, for justice, equality, for the communist movement and for friendship between peoples."

At Mr. Henri's funeral, Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France Nguyen Ngoc Son read the condolence message from the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the National Council of the French Communist Party and the family of Mr. Henri Martin.

Ambassador Nguyen Ngoc Son emphasized: "Henri Martin always closely followed developments in Vietnam, always ready to support the just struggle of the Vietnamese people. If the blood flowing in his veins was not Vietnamese blood, his heart and soul were nourished by love for Vietnam, the country he became familiar with very early and loved throughout his life. For that reason, Henri became a beloved brother of the Vietnamese people for many generations."

Henri Martin, a close French friend of the Vietnamese people, passed away on February 17 due to nasopharyngeal cancer at the age of 88. Henri visited Vietnam many times and was met and welcomed by President Ho Chi Minh in 1956 in Hanoi.
