“There is no winner or loser today,” Moon Jae-in told politicians and supporters in Seoul. “If one person is chosen, it will be the one who lights the candle in history.”
If I win, I will become a clean president, worthy of the people's pride, a friendly and trustworthy president. I will make Korea a great country."
A former human rights lawyer and top aide to former President Roh Moo-hyun, Moon Jae-in advocates resuming inter-Korean talks and cooperation as well as spending more state budget on the welfare of low-income people.
Moon Jae-in's popularity has been boosted in part by his declaration that he has been preparing for the presidency since his failed 2012 bid.
In a series of recent confidence polls, Mr. Moon Jae-in has always maintained the leading position in the list of candidates running for the presidential election scheduled to take place on May 9./.
